Common Questions

  • We provide structural steel and specialty metalwork for residential and commercial projects across Southwest Florida, including custom homes, additions, stair systems, railings, beams, brackets, and architectural metalwork.

  • Yes. Our team manages both in-house fabrication and on-site installation to help ensure accuracy, coordination, and a smoother overall process from start to finish.

  • We work closely with general contractors, subcontractors, builders, homeowners, and project teams who value dependable communication, quality workmanship, and realistic timelines.

  • Absolutely. You can send architectural drawings, structural plans, sketches, or project details through our contact page and we’ll review the scope with you.

  • MSSI works with a wide range of structural and architectural metals for custom homes, commercial buildings, coastal properties, and miscellaneous metal projects. The right material depends on the project’s structural requirements, exposure, finish expectations, and long-term performance needs.

    We commonly fabricate and install:

    Carbon Steel
Used for beams, columns, lintels, plates, brackets, stair framing, and structural supports. Carbon steel is strong, versatile, and cost-effective, making it one of the most common materials in building construction.

    Tube Steel / HSS
Used for columns, trellises, canopies, rail posts, exposed frames, and architectural features. Tube steel provides strength with a clean finished appearance.

    Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel
Used for exterior structural steel, balcony framing, waterfront applications, exterior brackets, and steel exposed to weather or salt air. Galvanizing provides added corrosion protection for coastal environments.

    Stainless Steel
Used for railings, brackets, architectural metal, and exterior coastal applications. 304 stainless is common for interior and light exterior use, while 316 stainless is often preferred for salt-air and waterfront environments.

    Aluminum
Used for railings, gates, screens, trellises, canopies, and exterior architectural metal. Aluminum is lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and works well for many coastal applications.

    Plate Steel and Embed Plates
Used for base plates, cap plates, connection plates, bearing plates, weld plates, and embeds cast into concrete or masonry. These components are critical for proper structural connections.

    Steel Angles and Channels
Used for lintels, shelf angles, ledgers, stair stringers, supports, frames, and miscellaneous structural connections. These shapes are versatile and commonly used throughout residential and commercial construction.

At MSSI, we help builders and design teams coordinate metal fabrication that fits the application, the drawings, and the environment. For coastal projects in Sarasota, Manatee County, and surrounding barrier islands, proper material and finish selection can make a major difference in long-term performance.

Material selection and structural requirements should be confirmed by the project drawings, structural engineer, architect, and applicable building codes. MSSI fabricates and coordinates metalwork based on the approved project documents.
